The Official CSSA Hot 100 for 2018
« on: July 28, 2018, 02:54:06 am »
Here we are – the Offical 2018 CSSA Hot 100 list.

The Hot 100 list is 16 this year, and I I'm willing to bet it isn't a virgin. This list of babes totally put out on prom night, and we're lucky she did. This analogy is going nowhere fast, so let's move on before I get stuck on it.

As I do every year, I must complain about low voting. Only 19 people voted this year, 1 less than last year, which I suppose I should take as some good news, as we'd lost 4 the year before. But I won't. More voters PLEASE. Might be time to consider changing things up – maybe do lists of 25 next year, or provide categories people can fill in their top 5 of. I'm open to ideas. With only 19 voters, everyone got their TOP 6 on the list this year. At the rate we're going, by the time the Hot 100 is old enough to drink in the US, everyone will be getting their entire top 20s in. *theatrical sigh*

As usual, there are a bunch of ties, giving us 103 names. I've listed them below from 103-1, with their point totals right next to them. You'll notice that a lot of people have the same total points. That's because of low voting. Ties were settled by alphabetical order of LAST NAME, just like every year since I've started doing this list. With so many ties, there seemed very little point in going through and listing a third of the list as ties. We clearly need more voters if ties are bothering people.

Voting was interesting, as usual, but unlike in years past, our winner held the lead for a good chunk of the voting time, passing our #8 girl maybe a third of the way into voting, and generating a large enough lead that she was never in danger of losing. Of note, our #2 and #3 babes both scored the exact same number of points – I left them listed in alphabetical order by last name, but #2 had more actual voters, so I feel like she should be #2 anyway.

As usual, big props to everyone who DID vote this year:  Just Plain Tricky, John Connors, Robbins, Vicki, onlyme, DanielO, wmike, benw, biggs21, InThe313, randyorko3589, ffstoryman, The Squad Leader, Victor Field, Cosmo Kramer, KMB, ikkitousen, and MuffinMan. You guys all rock and deserve a night in a hot tub with your own personal #1 babe. Unfortunately, I can't make that happen, so accept my gratitude instead.

Awards, both good and bad:

Biggest Jump – Hailee Steinfeld – from 61 last year to 12 this year, a jump of 49 spots

Biggest Fall – Ariel Winter – from 9 last year to 53 this year, a drop of 44 spots

Highest Debut –  Maddie Zeigler at 32.

Dead Drop –  Katharine McPhee – from 25 last year to off the list. That Scorpion sting wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

Where You Been – Karen Gillan – Gone since 2011, #89 this year

That Was Quick – Daniela Ruah – premiered at 63 last year, off the list this year.

Planted/”Chloe Bennet Camper Crown” - N/A The year this award's namesake wins it all, no babe achieved the same rank as she did last year. Everyone moved somehow. Interesting, IMO.

MILF of the Year – Scarlett Johansson (4th year running)

Your MILF of the Year Chart:

Discussion Points and Trivia.

Chloe Bennet wins the 2018 Hot 100, becoming the first woman of Asian heritage to do so, and the first woman of color to do so since Jessica Alba won last in 2005.

So, yeah, 19 people voted this year, nominating 222 babes, down from 229 names last year. Surprisingly little difference that one voter made in terms of numbers. Still, because of low votership, everyone gets their top 6 babes in there. If you see your favorite babe missing from the list, and you didn't vote, you only had to put her ANYWHERE in your top 5 and she would've made it. So non-voters, you should have voted.

We have only 18 new faces this year, the highest ranking one being tiny dancer Maddie Zeigler at 32. The rest are Camila Cabello (37), Maisie Williams (40), Tessa Thompson (51), Madisyn Shipman (54), Candice Patton (55), Shantel Vansanten (74), Jada Facer (76), Joelle Ferland (77), Liv Morgan (78), Madelaine Petsch (84), Rachel Bloom (87), Michelle Dockery (88), Brittany Daniel (97), Ashley James (99) Maryse (101), Barbara Palvin (102) and Cecily Strong (103). I needed to look up SEVERAL of these babes, and don't really regret that fact.

Of course, new names mean we've lost some, and the biggest drop this year was Katharine McPhee, who dropped from #25 to off the list. Apparently, I'm the only one left suffering McPheever. Carrie Underwood was another American Idol alumni to drop off, so maybe that show's finally losing it's pop culture credit. Then again, I continue to keep Kelly Clarkson on my list, so what do I know?

It's also always interesting to see who ALMOST made the list. Big names only a couple points away this year include Morena Baccarin, Sophie Turner, Priyanka Chopra, Christina Aguilera, Jessica Chastain, Lucy Hale, Rihanna, Ashley Tisdale and Michelle Trachtenberg.

So, early voting was fun to watch. I do wonder why I bother to run this for a month since most of the voting is finished within a week or so, but oh well. Through the first 3rd or so of voting, Emilia Clarke had a commanding lead, similar to her early leads in years past. GoT fans must vote early, but they don't vote her high enough, because she stalled at 177 points this year and ended up at number 8. Our number 2 and 3 babes got the exact same number of votes, 214. Taylor Swift got a #1 vote, while Victoria Justice got more votes total, but they both ended up at 214. Neither of them got anywhere near 297. With more votes than anyone else on the list, and despite not appearing in a number 1 slot, Chloe Bennet EASILY won this year. In fact, she had the race won before we hit the second page of voting – but she still happily took two more votes to secure her lead.

We opened up the list to internet-based celebrities, but they didn't make much of an impact, from what I can tell. We got our usual mix of big names, CW Super-Hero Show Babes, Buffy Alumni, Wrestling Stars, Disney Babes, and so on. While some social media babes got votes, none of them were high enough to land in the top 100. Be interesting to see if that continues to be the case as time goes on.

And once again, we had a HUGE drag in the middle of the month where no one voted. It's clear we only have two types of voters left any more – those who vote ASAP and those who wait for the last minute. I'll probably start shrinking the time frame of the vote next year, mostly just to save ME time. Also, I'll try hard to remember to do this in June next year, too.

Sorry, I haven't felt well lately, so I didn't get around to voting, this year.

Sorry to hear that Sex Kitten. Especially as someone who has had her fair share of health problems, I had Ovarian cancer a few years back and this year had a cancer scare that fortunately turned out to be nothing, then diabetes at 4-. I hope whatever you are going through you will recover from. We need you around here so concentrate on getting better. Cyber hug!

Also a huge cyber hug that would make Bailey jealous to TEL for all his hard work! I am very happy with Chloe winning as she was my number 2, didn't get number 1 because of dating an idiot.  Thank you!

TRL I know how you feel not having many votes for this as that's why I quit doing the WOWEFA Last Woman Standing tournament b/c I got less participation in that than this has gotten the last few years.

Thanks Vicki, but I don't have it near as bad as you. I just haven't been able to get much done, lately. I all but forgot about the list, and thought I still had time.

I meant to vote, had my list written out and then forgot to post.  Until after the deadline passed.  FML.  Saying that, my votes wouldn't have made much difference to the result, with the exception that Pey Pey would have been higher on the list.  Ah well.  Some really hot babes in there.

Hope people who are battling illnesses get better soon, I know the feeling as I am in a perpetual battle with my mental health.
