Feeling old. I remember when they were simply called 'Rose Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Orange Bowl' and the like. Now they all start with sponsor names.

Is it possible I could catch TRL for 9th?

There were only 18 when I started paying attention to college football.
However do you want me?
However do you need me?

Let's start 2018 with more New Year's Six action.  No. 12 UCF is trying to complete an unbeaten season and taking on No. 7 Auburn in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.  Updates to come.

And UCF upset Auburn, 34-27.

Know y'all been patiently waiting
I know you need me, I can feel it
I'm a beast, I'm an animal
I'm that monster in the mirror
The headliner, finisher
I'm the closer, winner
Best when under pressure
With seconds left I show up
If you really want more, scream it out louder

Soon, the Finals picture will be all set.  Baker Mayfield will lead No. 2 Oklahoma against No. 3 Georgia in the first game of the College Football Playoff semifinals.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  What is this defense of which you speak?  Oklahoma leads Georgia, 31-17, at halftime in the Rose Bowl.  The teams combined for 651 yards of offense.

UPDATE 2:  We got a game here, folks.  Oklahoma and Georgia are tied, 31-31, entering the fourth quarter of the Rose Bowl.

UPDATE 3:  We're finally getting bonus football in the CFP.  Georgia and Oklahoma are going to overtime tied, 45-45.  No. 4 Alabama vs. No. 1 Clemson will be starting soon.

UPDATE 4:  What a thriller today in Pasadena!  Georgia upset Oklahoma, 54-48, in double overtime to reach the College Football Playoff title game on Jan. 8 in Atlanta.  The Bulldogs' Sony Michel had four touchdowns, including the game-winner in the highest scoring Rose Bowl in history.

UPDATE 5:  The rubber match seems to be leaning toward the Tide.  Alabama leads Clemson, 10-3, at halftime of the Sugar Bowl.  The Tigers were held to 73 total yards.

UPDATE 6:  The "SEC" chants are going to be deafening in a week.  Alabama upset Clemson, 24-6, in the Sugar Bowl.  The Crimson Tide will face Georgia in the College Football Playoff title game.

Under normal circumstances, I’d be laughing, but not when it’s because of the Weinstein effect.  Arizona fired head coach Rich Rodriguez amid a sexual harassment investigation.

This is what it all comes down to.  Head coach Nick Saban and No. 4 Alabama are meeting head coach and former assistant Kirby Smart and No. 3 Georgia in the College Football Playoff national title game.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  Have we finally found the former assistant who can topple perhaps the greatest coach ever?  Georgia leads Alabama, 13-0, at halftime.  The Crimson Tide have been held to 94 yards of offense.

UPDATE 2:  We’re 15 minutes away from the end of a drought.  Georgia leads Alabama, 20-10, entering the fourth quarter of the College Football Playoff title game.

UPDATE 3:  It looks like it’ll come down to who has the ball last.  Georgia and Alabama are tied, 20-20, with 3:44 left in the College Football Playoff title game.

UPDATE 4: Now the tension’s really gone up.  Alabama and Georgia are heading to overtime tied, 20-20, in the College Football Playoff title game after the Crimson Tide missed a winning field goal.

UPDATE 5:  What a thriller tonight in Atlanta!  Alabama upset Georgia, 26-23, in overtime to win the College Football Playoff National Championship, their fifth title since 2009, on Tua Tagovailoa’s stunning 41-yard touchdown pass.

That was an exciting game! My blood was pumping! Strange that my thoughts turned to the scene in Best Little Whorehouse in Texas for the winning teams reward! LOL!

I just know the shoes aren't done dropping yet.  Michigan State athletic director Mark Hollis resigned in the wake of the Larry Nassar case.

UPDATE:  Things are definitely about to get worse.  According to "Outside the Lines", Michigan State's secrets extend beyond the Nassar case and directly into the athletics and football head coach Mark Dantonio and men's basketball head coach Tom Izzo's programs.
