We're this much closer to the Playoffs.  The College Football Playoff selection committee will release their first rankings for the 2017 season.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  Who let the Dawgs out on top?  Georgia topped the initial College Football Playoff rankings followed by Alabama, Notre Dame, Clemson, Oklahoma and Ohio State.

313 must be too busy dancing like Britney in Crossroads, because that's about the only reason I can imagine him ignoring the absolute beat down THE Ohio State Buckeyes took in Iowa. I know you really can never truly count out blue bloods like Ohio State, but two losses, with one by 31 points to a pretty middling Iowa team should keep them out of the conversation for the playoff unless some truly bonkers batshit crazy stuff happens in the next few weeks.
Welcome to my breakdown.
I hope I didn't scare you.
That's just the way we are when we come down.
We sweat and laugh and scream here.
'Cause life is just a dream here.
You know inside you feel right at home, here.
Yeah, Welcome to my nightmare yeah, hey, hey, hey...

I just chose not to post about it, but I was definitely following the crawler at the bottom of my TV screen.

It's time to ask the big question.  Will the Top 4 remain the same after a crazy weekend?  The latest College Football Playoff rankings are being released.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  As I thought, nothing changed at the top.  Georgia stayed No. 1 in the College Football Playoff rankings followed by Alabama, Notre Dame, Clemson, Oklahoma and TCU.

The CFP picture is about to change drastically.  No. 1 Georgia was upset by No. 10 Auburn, 40-17.  The Tigers' Kerryon Johnson had 233 total yards and a touchdown.

I can't stress how huge this game is.  No. 3 Notre Dame and unbeaten No. 7 Miami (Fla.) are meeting in a throwback clash with serious CFP implications.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  I'm about to use the word "upset" very loosely.  Miami (Fla.) upset Notre Dame, 41-8, to remain undefeated.  The Hurricanes' Malik Rosier had two touchdowns.

Are we going to see more CFP calamity?  No. 2 Alabama trails No. 16 Mississippi State, 21-17, at the start of the fourth quarter.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  Woah, that was close!  Alabama saved its undefeated season with a 26-yard touchdown late in the fourth and topped Mississippi State, 31-24.

I’d hate to be CFP committee tonight.  How will the Top 4 shake out after losses by Georgia and Notre Dame.  The new College Football Playoff rankings are being released.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  The Tide is rolling to the top.  Alabama is the new No. 1 in the College Football Playoff rankings followed by Clemson, Miami (Fla.), Oklahoma, Wisconsin and Auburn.

Well, this will be fun to watch.  Will the Top 4 remain the same after a weekend of chalk?  The new College Football Playoff rankings are being released.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  We have some change, but not a whole lot.  Alabama remained No. 1 in the College Football Playoff rankings followed by Miami (Fla.), Clemson, Oklahoma, Wisconsin and Auburn.

We might have a stunner in the Steel City.  No. 2 Miami (Fla.) trails Pittsburgh, 17-7, at the start of the fourth quarter.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  It's amazing how often college football gives you drama when you least expect it.  Miami (Fla.) was upset by Pittsburgh, 24-14, to end the Hurricanes' 15-game winning streak.

Look who's back in college.  According to Mark Schlabach, UCLA will hire Chip Kelly as their head football coach.

It'll be interesting to see how he fares/adapts now that his offense isn't nearly as special as it once was. When he first got to Oregon, it was new and fresh, but now everyone seems to run at least some elements of it. Everyone does the tempo thing, at least some of the time, and plenty do it all the time. That means that far more teams are used to seeing it and it's not the exotic beast it was a decade ago, but Auburn and Baylor (back when they were enabling rapists at every turn) have, or still are having a ton of success using variations of it.
Welcome to my breakdown.

Oh, the pandaemonium is real.  No. 6 Auburn upset No. 1 Alabama, 26-14, in the Iron Bowl to clinch an SEC title game berth against Georgia on Dec. 2 in Atlanta.

I'm sure jumping from one head coaching job in the SEC to another will draw no heat from fans.  According to Chris Low, Florida is finalizing a deal with Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen to take the same job.

God, I can't imagine how things will change.  How will a wild weekend impact the Top 4 with one week to play.  The new College Football Playoff rankings are being released.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  The jockeying for the postseason isn't over, not by a long shot.  Clemson is the new No. 1 in the College Football Playoff rankings followed by Auburn, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Alabama and Georgia.
