Who's ready for the heavyweights to begin their title chase?  No. 5 Clemson will begin its title defense against Kent State.  No. 6 Penn State will open against Akron.  Updates to come.

Penn State beat Akron, 52-0.
Clemson beat Kent State, 56-3.

I'm decked out in Maize and Blue and ready to roll.  No. 11 Michigan and No. 17 Florida will square off in a matchup of powers in Arlington, Texas.  Updates to come.

And Michigan beat Florida, 33-17.

Here's the other big game you've been waiting for.  No. 1 Alabama and No. 3 Florida State will clash in a huge opener in Atlanta.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  That was a surprising beat-down.  Alabama beat Florida State, 24-7.  The Crimson Tide's Jalen Hurts had 96 passing yards and a touchdown.

Eh, getting creamed by Alabama will have more to do with their title hopes being dashed than losing a quarterback. For programs like FSU, their second or even third string players tend to be just as good as their starters, just not quite as experienced. One guy goes down, or gets drafted, and it's next guy up without losing that much. After all, Jameis Winston was a redshirt freshman when they won the national championship a couple years ago. And many thought USC was the best team in the country at the end of last year with a quarterback that is now considered the Heisman frontrunner this year, and he didn't start until like 4 games into season.

How could you not be excited for this game?  No. 2 Ohio State and J. T. Barrett are facing off with No. 5 Oklahoma and Baker Mayfield.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  Please, hold on, Boomer!  Oklahoma leads Ohio State, 17-13, entering the fourth quarter.

UPDATE 2:  I am going to love saying this.  Oklahoma upset Ohio State, 31-16.  Mayfield had 386 yards and three touchdowns.

What a thriller today in Gainesville!  No. 24 Florida completed a 63-yard Hail Mary with no time left to upset No. 23 Tennessee, 26-20.

I know a lot of college football fans have been waiting for this game like it's Christmas.  No. 3 Clemson will meet No. 14 Louisville and 2016 Heisman winner Lamar Jackson in an ACC clash.  Updates to come.

And Clemson beat Louisville, 47-21.

Very little fills my cold black heart with glee more than watching USC fuck up. It's like watching Selena Gomez ass fuck Peyton List levels of awesomeness. I'd rather it be Washington doing it, but Wazzu is still enough for a happy dance.

If you predicted this result, you, sir or madam, are a genius.  No. 3 Oklahoma was upset by Iowa State, 38-31, on the Cyclones' leaping touchdown catch late in the fourth quarter.

How did they get away with it?  North Carolina avoided major sanctions from the NCAA in an academic fraud case.

What in the world is happening here?  No. 2 Clemson trails Syracuse, 27-24, with 6:10 left in the fourth quarter.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  Please pick your jaw up off of the floor.  Clemson was upset by Syracuse, 27-24.  The Tigers’ FBS-long 11-game win streak was snapped.

To say that I am disappointed isn't the half of it.  No. 2 Penn State was upset by No. 6 Ohio State, 39-38, as the Buckeyes' J. T. Barrett threw for 328 yards and four touchdowns.

This was a pretty unceremonious ending.  According to multiple reports, Florida and head football coach Jim McElwain are parting ways.
