TV & Movie Observations - They Call You 'Quack'
« on: February 01, 2017, 10:00:10 pm »
Since no one else was starting it...

On Agents of SHIELD and tonight's Arrow. SPOILERS.

Agents of SHIELD: Now that I've seen the whole episode, I'm very content with the resolution to the Koenig theory, in light of Marvel openly trolling the audience with the fans own theories. Doesn't hurt they're getting it out of the way in the very likely chance there's no season five. Now if they could just get back to that Gravitonium.

Arrow: I like that Ollie goes from mentioning earlier in the season how too many people know his secret, and then he just reveals it to this chick he's known for only a few minutes. And if they pull the rug out from the audience with this one... hoo boy.

Oof. If Powerless survives, it's going to be on fanboy easter eggs and not the jokes.

Actually read how VASTLY different this is from the original pilot

SPOILERS:

* Changed setting from a superhero insurance company to Wayne Security.

* Originally Hudgens' character was a veteran with the company, close friends with others and sardonic. Now she's the newcomer who the others don't like because she loves superheroes while they're all tired of them.

* Pudi's character was more a fanboy rather than disliking heroes and other co-workers less jerks.

* Van Wayne was Del Heller, son of the insurance company owner who just wanted to deny all claims of damage and more self-entitled without a big name to back him up.

* Original plot was just about Emily fighting Del Heller on denying claims, in office.

* The office workers are convinced a co-worker is Green Lantern, complete with smashing him with a yellow chair and him vanishing when danger occurs.

* Wendy and Marvin (as in the "Superfriends" characters) are gone.

* A LOT of comic book references were cut: Van Heller chuckling over Lex Luthor's biogrpahy, clocks noting the times in Atlantis and Paradise Island, and far less Batman references.

Not sure if this means better or worse but amazing to see how retooled it is.

Regarding Kristen Stewart's impression of Gisele Bündchen on last night's "Saturday Night Live", who knew K-Stew had such lovely legs?

I've never really noticed that before.  The lady needs to wear shorts and skirts more often.

I liked the intro for last night's Legends of Tomorrow...

Mick: "Seriously? You idiots haven't figured this out, by now?"

... and ending with, "Who writes this crap, anyway?"

Actually made me lol. ;D

C'mon, just once can't Supergirl rip open her shirt and be all "oops, forgot to wear my costume under my clothes today"?
I been up, I been down.
Take my word, my way around.
I ain't askin' for much.
I said, Lord, take me downtown,
I'm just lookin' for some tush.

I been bad, I been good,
Dallas, Texas, Hollywood.

Great minds think alike Voodoo! I suggested that in the lesbian thread a few weeks ago. :)

Eek! Have to correct myself! I posted that back on August 25, 2016. No one could possibly remember a small line 6 months ago from that thread.

Very small observation, but there was some speculation regarding whether the "Jedi" in "The Last Jedi" was singular or could actually be a plural "jedi".

Well, a couple days ago the official Star Wars social media account shared the title in Spanish ("Los Últimos Jedi") which confirms that it's a plural use of the word.

Apparently the French and German titles also confirm that, but since I don't really speak those I can't really comment on that  :P
(They're Star Wars: Les Derniers Jedi and Star Wars: Die Letzten Jedi respectively, for anyone who does speak the languages)
Technically, it's called "ephebophile"

Someone told me the mouse itself has since come out and stated the Jedi is plural, but since that was from Y****** you can't always take them at face value.

Of course Jedi is both singular and plural, as is Sith. I don't know why some people insist on adding an s to the end of them. ::)

Poor education systems. Lot of words that don't have an "s" at the end of their pluralized form suddenly started gaining them as soon as the internet became popular.

Though I'm hardly one to talk, my unassisted spelling is horrendous.
Is it Dec 2019 yet? (GAH SO FAR AWAY!)

Legends of Tomorrow SPOILERS

Oh so much fun here....

*Nate's utter denial that Camelot actually exists.

* Nate thought as a leper but he dressed in an "era appropriate" outfit.

* "Merlin" being Stargirl and it's because of her Camelot has armor that shouldn't exist for 700 years.

* Ray vs Darkh

* And, of course, Sara realizing that she is basically Lancelot and her and Guinevere.

I love this freaking show.
