Cancer is such a cruel disease.  Turner broadcaster Craig Sager, who was 65, died from complications with leukemia.  His career spanned more than 40 years.
Baby I've had the same dream
Where I wake up
Wondering what it really means
If the world came running down
If it was
You and me against the world
Baby they cut us under but we'll take whatever we want
If it was
You and me against the world

It's time to relive a classic.  The Cavaliers and LeBron James will face off with Stephen Curry and the Warriors in an NBA Finals rematch.  Who will prevail on Christmas?  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  It's a close one down the stretch.  The Warriors lead the Cavaliers, 87-80, at the start of the fourth quarter.  The Warriors' Kevin Durant has 28 points and 10 rebounds.  Who will prevail?

UPDATE 2:  That was an exciting way to celebrate Christmas.  The Cavaliers defeated the Warriors, 109-108, in a rematch of the 2016 NBA Finals.  James had 31 points and 13 rebounds and the Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving had 25 points.

I wanted to ask this on both the NBA and college basketball threads.  What was the best finish of 2016, Cavaliers small forward LeBron James' epic block or the No. 1 Villanova Wildacats' Kris Jenkins' title-clinching three?  Updates to come.

And the Wildcats beat the DePaul Blue Demons, 68-65.

If you love shoes, you're probably loving these.  The Cavaliers' LeBron James' retro Nikes were unveiled on "SportsCenter".  There are 23 pairs being auction with championship memorabilia.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  Keep it classy, Oakland.  The Warriors' Draymond Green mocked James after clotheslining him at midcourt.  Green was assessed a flagrant 1 foul in the Warriors' 126-91 win over the Cavaliers.

If the Clips are going to make the playoffs, this is the last thing they needed.  Clippers point guard Chris Paul will miss 6-8 weeks due to a torn ligament in his left thumb.  He will have surgery on Wednesday.

Considering the West is 7 teams deep (the Grizzlies and Thunder are tied for 6th at 25-18, Portland is sitting in 8th at 18-25, and probably isn't even that good this year), I don't think they're in much danger of missing the playoffs. The real danger is losing a couple extra games and slipping from 3 or 4 into that 6-7 range and going from getting home court against one of the Jazz/Thunder/Grizz trio to getting San Antonio or a Rockets team that is having an amazing year.

The rivalry is on again.  Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are facing off as opponents for the second time as the Warriors are hosting the Thunder.  Who will get bragging rights this time?  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  We saw some great individual efforts, but the team competition was one-sided.  Durant scored a season-high 40 points as the Warriors routed the Thunder, 121-100.  Westbrook had 27 points, 15 rebounds and 13 assists.

I'm scratching my head about this line-up.  Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook is not among the Western Conference All-Star starters on Feb. 19 in New Orleans.  According to sources, Warriors point guard Stephen Curry and Rockets shooting guard James Harden will be the starting guards.

Westbrook is all empty stats, eventually teams are going to figure out you just don't guard him because he can't shoot, his go to move is jumping into a defender and getting a foul called. Harden does the same thing, but at least you have to guard him, or he will eat you up. A team won't win anything with a guy like Westbrook leading them

Yet he has excelled in every aspect of the game for an extended period of time, even before Kevin Durant left.

He's a great player, but he's the type of player that doesn't age well. His hyper-kinetic style will likely wear him down before his time (think Iverson). His game also tends to be predicated far more on pure athleticism of being faster and jump higher than others, which tends to go fast (think Gerald Wallace or Ron Artest Metta World Peace, among other examples, going from All Star caliber players to being albatrosses practically overnight). Kobe managed to prolong his career several years by working tirelessly on his shot, and then post up game, among other things, that helped him when his legs started to go. LeBron is in a bit of the same boat as Westbrook, but he's a fucking tank that can just bulldoze people in ways a 6'3" guard like Westbrook just can't. Plus, he's big enough to work inside and act more like the power forward his size says he should be rather than the point guard or small forward his skill set made him as a youngster.

Take a bow, P-Squared.  Paul Pierce capped his farewell game in Boston by draining a three-pointer in the final seconds, sending the crowd into a frenzy in the Clippers' 107-102 loss to the Celtics.

Un-freaking-believable!  The Cavaliers' LeBron James hit a shot of the year candidate while falling into the crowd to force overtime in a 140-135 win over the Wizards.

I couldn't make this shit up if I tried.  Ex-Knicks player Charles Oakley shoved a security guard and got dragged out of Madison Square Garden after a reported incident with Knicks owner James L. Dolan in a 119-115 loss to the Clippers.

Draymond Green not only had a triple double against Memphis, he made history doing it. It was the first time in NBA history that someone put up a triple double while scoring fewer than 10 points.
