Add Prince Fielder to the list of retirees.

Loves horses and her boyfriend too

It's a long day livin' in Reseda

My fall Saturdays are going to sound so differently, so fuck you, 2016!  John Saunders, an on-air studio host for ESPN for nearly 30 years, including with MLB, has died at 61.  He was a founding member of The V Foundation.
There you go making my heart beat again
Heart beat again, heart beat again
There you go making me feel like a kid
Won't you do it and do it one time
There you go pulling me right back in
Right back in, right back in
And I know I'm never letting this go
I'm stuck on you
Whoa-oh, whoa-oh

There goes one of baseball's most controversial figures.  The Yankees' Alex Rodriguez played third base for one out in his final game and left the field to a standing ovation.  This comes as the Yankees beat the Rays, 6-3.

Are we about to see another great chapter added to this historic rivalry?  The Giants' Matt Moore has a no-hitter through eight innings against the Dodgers.  He has three walks, seven strikeouts and 119 pitches.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  As much as we love it, baseball may be the cruelest sport.  Moore lost the no-hitter with two outs in the ninth inning, allowing a bloop single to the Dodgers' Corey Seager.  This comes as the Giants beat the Dodgers, 4-0.

Saw an interesting note to this story - apparently, it was Corey Seager Bobblehead night, so maybe someone should've seen this coming.
Is it Dec 2019 yet? (GAH SO FAR AWAY!)

So when he hits a home run, is he going to do his signature pose?  According to an MLB source reporting to Adam Schefter, the Mets will sign former Heisman winner Tim Tebow to a minor league deal.  This comes as the Mets beat the Reds on Wednesday, 6-3.

Regardless of if he gets it or not, the kid is one step closer to the NL Cy Young Award.  The Cubs' Kyle Hendricks has a no-hitter through eight innings against the Cardinals.  He has 93 pitches and two walks.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  Man, we have been getting denied a lot of no-nos this year.  The Cardinals' Jeremy Hazelbaker broke up Hendricks' no-hitter with no outs in the ninth.  This comes as the Cubs beat the Cardinals, 4-1.

I am really going to hate saying this because he was a stud in the making and I know he meant a lot to the local Cuban community.  The Marlins' two-time All-Star José Fernández, who was 24, was killed in a boating accident off of Miami Beach, Fla.  This came as the Marlins beat the Braves on Saturday, 6-4.

UPDATE:  This going to be a lot to take in.  The US Coast Guard is holding a news conference regarding the death of Fernández.  This will be painful to watch.  Updates to come.

The word is that at 3:15 a.m. early this morning, the Coast Guard received a call about a 32-foot jetty that was turned upside-down.  Three bodies were found, one being Fernández and the other two were believed to be friends of his.  It does not appear alcohol or drugs were involved, but the Coast Guard believes speed may have played a role in the capsizing of the boat.

It's okay to cry here.  The Marlins players circled the mound in an emotional pregame ceremony to honor José Fernández.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  Nobody could hold back the waterworks.  The Marlins' Dee Gordon rounded the bases in tears after homering in his first at-bat since Fernández's death.  This comes as the Marlins beat the Mets, 7-3.

It may be a long shot, but you can tell how badly he want to get to the show.  Mets minor leaguer Tim Tebow launched an opposite-field home run on his first pitch in the instructional league and his teammates went wild.  Updates to come.

And the Mets beat the Marlins, 5-2.

Good-bye to a legend who will be sorely missed.  Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully ended his 67-year broadcasting career with a final sign-off.  He said, "I'll miss our time together."  This comes as the Dodgers suffered a 7-1 loss to the Giants, who will play the Mets on Wednesday in New York.

What a thriller tonight in Toronto!  The Blue Jays defeated the AL East rival Orioles, 5-2, in the AL wild-card game on Edwin Encarnación's walk-off home run in the 11th inning.  The Blue Jays will play the Rangers beginning on Thursday in Arlington, Texas.

It's crunch time!  The Giants and Mets are locked in a 0-0 tie entering the ninth inning of the NL wild-card game.  Who will break the stalemate?  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  It was a great pitchers duel, so of course it gets decided in the ninth.  The Giants defeated the Mets, 3-0, in the NL wild-card game on Conor Gillaspie's three-run home run in the ninth inning.  They will face the Cubs in the NLDS beginning on Friday in Chicago.

If the Giants win the World Series, will the Bay Area start a petition to change next year to 2018 just so they don't have to sit through the off year before their next championship?

What a thriller tonight in Toronto!  The Blue Jays completed an ALDS sweep of the Rangers with a 7-6 walk-off win in 10 innings, advancing to the ALCS for the second straight season.  The Blue Jays' Josh Donaldson beat a throw home to secure the ALDS win following an error on the Rangers' Rougned Odor.
