Title: CSSA Hot 100 2017 - DISCUSSION
Post by: TRL on May 31, 2017, 09:02:59 pm

Feel like chatting about who you voted for and why? This is the thread to do that in.

What do you need in the way of bribes? LOL. Last year I offered up a floor show and free booze. Alas, we are no longer as attractive as when we first joined (29 then), perhaps we can add pretzels? :D

Kidding. Or am I? :)

Autumn Miller is mostly a web celeb but has had a bit part on Suite Life of Matt and Cody, has appeared in Dancing With the Stars as a guest dancer and was the feature (only) dancer in a music video (Madilyn Bailey's "Survivor").  Does she get in?  If not I have a sub prepared.

Got my girls already, just need to put them in order. Had to pair down from 40 this year I had so many favorites.  Tried to keep it one to a show, but had 3 GOT girls even though I was basing Sophie from her X-Men role and unfortunately she then missed the cut at 21. Many are from my last years list with some rearranging and a couple new.

I'll allow it. She's got enough non-interwebs based stuff there, even if it's a little thin.

Honestly, in the future, I think we'll have to find some way to include Internet-only celebs, because more and more entertainment is headed that way.

And the line is getting fuzzier.  For instance is a TSSTAB show television or internet?

Television. Those are still TV shows (and movies). And most everyone on one of their shows has been on something else.

Perhaps, but I always enjoy adding your list. Feels like some much needed color. Also, kudos on Kylie Bunberry. Damn, Pitch was too good of a show.

Some reshuffling on my list this year, but not too many major changes:

Through some unaccountable brainfart last year, I forgot to include Demi Lovato, which I have corrected.

I've dropped Bella Thorne down the list, but not completely off it. I have nothing against blue hair, but the general skankiness of her recent appearance is discouraging. OTOH, her presence still got me to watch all of "Famous In Love" (a difficult feat, since it's a miserably written and poorly acted hunk of bad soap opera), which reminded me of how gorgeous she can look. Perhaps that will return.

Spots 8 through 11 were pretty much even in my mind, so it was a hard decision on who to relegate to 11, outside the double points zone. I apologize to all the Sabrina Carpenter lovers if that robs her of a higher spot in the final totals.

There have been rumors that the streaming service that sounds like a hoop might pick it up.  I'm doubtful, since Zach Morris has already signed on to The Passage, but stranger things have happened.

He could easily be written out, considering how the season ended. His character was always halfway out the door, and if they just made it so Ginny lost a year due to surgery, he'd be easy to replace with another character.

Very much alive, looks good for 65.The older ladies on his list generally are 'well perserved'. Of course if I had that kind of money for personal trainers and doctors. I might be prettier. Raquel Welch.is in her 70s and is hotter than I was in my 20s! One of these days we need to do a 60s and 70s list. See how Raquel, Bardot, Sophia Loren,
Lynda Carter, Ann Margerat, Tina Louise, Dawn Wells, Barbara Eden, Lynda Carter, The various Charlie's Angels, Julie Newmar, various Bond girls etc would come out.

It's a thoroughly respectable list but considering your handle I'm surprised there were no sports figures in it.

So here is the list. 5 debuts and 5 dropping off with some movement in between. As always, black font is no change from last year, blue names are new to my list this year, green are risers from last year and red are fallers.

1. Emma Watson
2. Elizabeth Gillies
3. Victoria Justice
4. Melissa Benoist
5. Hayden Panettiere
6. Maria Menounos
7. Margot Robbie
8. Mary Elizabeth Winstead
9. Kelly Kelly
10. Felicity Jones
11. Emmy Rossum
12. Charisma Carpenter
13. Emilia Clarke
14. Jessica Alba
15. Kristen Bell
16. Mila Kunis
17. Lyndsy Fonseca
18. Megan Fox
19. Rhea Seehorn
20. Carrie Coon

Emma is still number one with no signs of slowing down. She seems to get cuter every time I see her. Leaked nudes didn't hurt her case either.  :)

Liz Gillies and Victoria Justice flip flopped with Liz moving up to number two. She was always hot but she is an absolute smoke bomb now! Melissa Benoist keeps moving up my list even as her show is really dropping off in my opinion. Luckily the lesbian storyline with Chyler Leigh kept me around through the end of season 2.

Hayden moved back in front of Maria Menounos but I don't really see much of either of them these days since I gave up on Nashville long before they moved to CMT.

2 debuts are next. I can't believe I've forgotten Margot Robbie in years past but I've corrected that this year and Mary Elizabeth Winstead is fantastic as Nikki Swango on Fargo. Kelly Kelly formerly of WWE fame and now of hot pics on T*****r fame is next. She is constantly posting bikini photos so that keeps her in my top 10.

Another debut at 10 by the lovely Felicity Jones who I had a crush on before Rogue One which is now given the fanboy bonus boost!  ;D She narrowly bumps Emmy Rossum out of my top 10 but the Shameless star still has a high spot on my list at 11.

Jumping up my list is a long time TSL favorite in the magnificently breasted Charisma Carpenter. I recently watched a few episodes of Angel and remembered how stunning she was/still is. Khaleesi herself is slotted at number 13 but I'm sure after another season of GOT she'll be busting back into the top 10.

14-16 are three members of my own personal Hall of Fame and I'm sure a lot of you all agree: Alba, KBell, Kunis - nuff said.

17 and 18 are two ladies who I'd love to see do more projects in Lyndsy Fonseca and Megan Fox. And finally 19 and 20 are two debuts from a few of my favorite shows Rhea Seehorn from Better Call Saul and Carrie Coon from The Leftovers and Fargo.

Dropping off of my list but still beautiful are Amanda Crew, Ariana Grande, Chloe Bennett, Evangeline Lilly and Nina Dobrev.

Biggest riser was Charisma Carpenter (20 to 12) Biggest drop was Amanda Crew from 7 to off the list. Highest debut was Margot Robbie at 7.

Whoever is tabulating (I'm assuming TRL) I apologize for being "that guy" but I made one change to my list. I just saw Wonder Woman this weekend and holy fuck Gal Gadot is hot! I mean like cold shower hot. So I added her to my list at number 4 and everyone else slid down one spot and poor Carrie Coon got bumped out.

Anyway no more changes for me no matter what movies come out the rest of the month I promise!  ;)

I'm starting to feel like we need a refresher on the points system, so here we go:

1 = 40
2 = 39
3 = 38
4 = 37
5 = 36
6 = 35
7 = 34
8 = 33
9 = 32
10 = 31
11 = 20
12 = 19
13 = 18
14 = 17
15 = 16
16 = 15
17 = 14
18 = 13
19 = 12
20 = 11

We've used this point system for several years now, dating back to when Slip would do the tabulations. In fact, I literally take the same spreadsheet every year, just wipe out the votes and start fresh, saving me oodles of time. While I'm open to discussions about the point system, it'll have to wait until AFTER this year's vote, because I'm not changing it mid-campaign (unless it's just to add 400 points to my list and my list only  ;) ).

Still a lot of big names that haven't voted! Just off the top of what little brain I have left I can, but better not, name 5 or 6 active great members who haven't voted yet! Only a couple of hours left! Vote!
Title: Re: CSSA Hot 100 2017 - DISCUSSION

Only a couple of hours left! Vote!

If by couple, you mean roughly 25.5 hours, you're right. Voting ends tomorrow night at 10pm EST.

We're still at a level where single votes can throw a lot of chaos into the mix. For instance, roughly half the girls who'd make the list if I closed voting right now would only have 1 person voting for them, and everyone's TOP 8 would make the list (it's been everyone's top 3 the last two years). Lot of interesting, new names, and the top 10 is quite a bit different from last year - though with 24 hours left in voting, I'm betting it doesn't remain that way. It was about this time last year that Bella Thorne made her final push to number one with a flurry of votes, many of them mid-level, none of them #1. I almost wish I wasn't going to work tonight, so I could sit here and kinda monitor things, see how they pan out.

I do think, starting next year, that we're going to just run for two weeks. Two weeks worked fine last year, and this year there were 15 days IN A ROW where NO ONE voted. If we can have two whole weeks of the voting period where no one bothered to participate, I see no reason to keep voting open for a whole month. We'll start maybe on June 15th instead, and everyone can still have all month to pretend they're thinking about their votes, only to wait until the last minute, throw some random names together, then bitch and moan about how it took them all month to do that. Or maybe just leave voting open for one week, but put up a reminder a month ahead of time for people to start making their lists.

Yes, while I generally assume these run from 1-20, top to bottom, numbers help. A lot.

And there is no age limit in either direction.

Honestly, in the future, I think we'll have to find some way to include Internet-only celebs, because more and more entertainment is headed that way.

Been thinking about this.  A few years ago there was a question about whether stories about internet only celebs would be accepted.  At the time it was decided not to allow them.  Dunno if that has changed (not enough hours in the day to research all the unfamiliar names), but if stories about online celebs are forbidden then they should also be excluded from the voting.  If stories about them can appear on the site then we shouldn't leave them out of the voting.
